Your Innkeeper

After buying and completing a 100% renovation and restoration of his derelict, expanded traditional 1856 Maine cape, Bill's creativeness eventually turned it into "Castleview by the Sea" as it is today. Capturing the oceanviews was a primary goal throughout the restoration, Bill has happily been owner/innkeeper and the only employee of Castleview, for the last fifteen summers, while simultaneously operating his vacation rental apartments at the Summerhouse, also in Camden village.

Bill served in an executive capacity with Avis Rent A Car in several cities for 12 years and also as their Colorado Ski Promotion Director. For another 10 years, he served as an executive with three major Travel Industry supplier corporations, after which he formed his own National Franchise Marketing company with clients such as Century 21, Radio Shack, and Travel Agents International.

Eventually desiring the slower paced Maine Coast quality of life, Bill accepted a position with Diversified Communications in Maine, who relocated him from Boston to Camden in 1977.

An ex-Navy man, Bill's love of music, humor, classic cars, his Harley, and sailing is only exceeded by his penchant for extended travel during winter months when the Inn is closed and traveling full time at other times in his life.

He has traveled to all of the US, (and all of the Hawaiian islands) all of Canada and Mexico, Spain and Portugal, England, Ireland and Scandinavia, all of Europe, and the Mediterranean Islands, Japan, Turkey, Thailand, Greece, Russia, Tasmania, Africa, India, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, South America, all of the Caribbean, Central America, China, the South Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia.

While working for GWV Micato Safaris in Nairobi, Bill escorted US travel agents on weeklong safaris guided by Micato, which provided peak experiences he still marvels over.

A Connecticut native, and avid ballplayer in his younger years, he loves hearing about his guests' travels, which he knows are invaluable resources in learning more about the world he loves to wander and explore.
